Novacap Wins CVCA Private Equity Deal of the Year and Regional Impact Awards

Novacap, a leading North American private equity firm, proudly announces its receipt of two prestigious distinctions at the 2025 Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA) Awards. The firm has been recognized with the Private Equity Deal of the Year Award for its transformative partnership with fintech leader Nuvei, as well as the Private Equity Regional Impact Award for Central Canada for its high-impact investment in travel technology company Plusgrade.
These awards mark Novacap’s continued recognition by the CVCA, having previously received the Private Equity Deal of the Year Award for several key transactions, including InnoMediaLogic (2000), Santé Naturelle (2005), Stingray Digital Group Inc. (2016), Chemical Computing Group (2018), and Intelerad Medical Systems Inc. (2021). Additionally, Novacap has been honoured with the Private Equity Regional Impact Award in 2017 for Fibrenoire Technologies, in 2019 for Onstream Pipeline Inspection, in 2022 for The Master Group, and in 2023 for Greenwood Mushrooms Holdings Corporation.
“These awards reflect the strength of the relationships we build with entrepreneurs and management teams,” said Pascal Tremblay, President & CEO, Managing Partner at Novacap. “We are honored by this recognition and remain committed to supporting visionary leaders and growing resilient, world-class businesses.”
Kristin Smith, Partner at Novacap, accepted both awards on behalf of the firm during the CVCA’s Invest Canada ’25 Conference held in Calgary.
The PE Deal of the Year Award highlights Novacap’s strategic collaboration with Nuvei, a global payments technology provider headquartered in Montreal. Since investing in 2017, Novacap has played a pivotal role in accelerating Nuvei’s international expansion and M&A strategy. In 2024, Nuvei was acquired in a $6.3 billion take-private transaction, with Novacap continuing to support the company’s next phase of growth.
The PE Regional Impact Award (Central Canada) recognizes Novacap’s investment in Plusgrade, a Montreal-based company powering ancillary revenue programs for the global travel industry. Under Novacap’s partnership, Plusgrade completed multiple acquisitions and grew its Canadian workforce, establishing itself as a global category leader.
